Tessella is committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected.

Your privacy is important to us. This privacy statement explains what personal data Tessella collects from you as part of our recruitment process. Privacy is important to us all, and Tessella understands we have a responsibility to protect the personal information we hold and process about you.

Only a very small subset of the data we request is mandatory to complete your application. This covers basic contact information, so we can communicate with you throughout the process, and in which countries you are eligible to work so that we can match your application to opportunities.

By providing the optional information as part of your application, you are giving your consent to Tessella processing this information in accordance with this privacy statement.

Please read this privacy notice carefully. The aim here is to inform, in a clear and transparent manner, our approach to handling your Personal Information.

What information is being collected?

Tessella adopts a data minimisation approach in that we only collect and use personal data we require to allow our recruitment team to select candidates for consideration.

Through our online application process or through alternative channels such as direct email applications or through professional recruitment organisations, Tessella will collect information such as your name, address, contact details, your current employment status, working rights, education history, your qualifications and employment history.

We may collect personal data about you from 3rd parties i.e. using the references you provided and/or from a prior employer.

In addition to the data collected for mandatory purposes described above, by providing the optional information as part of your application, you are giving your consent to Tessella processing this information in accordance with this privacy statement.

Optional information includes your employment status, availability to start work and your salary expectations (excluding US applicants). Although you are not required to provide this information, failing to do so will limit the data available to our recruitment team and may impact your application.

Additional optional information is requested as part of the recruitment process. This includes sensitive personal data such as ethnicity and gender.  Such information is used to collect statistics to assist with our diversity and equal opportunities initiatives. Failing to submit this information will in no way impact your application.

Throughout the recruitment process, proof of ID, your photograph, degree certificates will be copied and held in our recruitment database. Tessella has a legitimate interest in collecting this information to ensure our recruitment processes are accurate and robust and that we comply with relevant employment legislation.

How we use your personal data?

All personal data we collect from you is used for legitimate human resources and business management purposes. This includes:

  • Evaluating candidates for potential employment
  • Supporting diversity and equal opportunity
  • Protecting our legal rights and to ensure we are operating within the law

If your application is unsuccessful, your personal information will be removed from our database in accordance with our data retention policy.

To assist with the continual improvement of our recruitment process, information gathered about you may be anonymised and aggregated to create a statistical dataset for analysis. This statistical dataset will not contain information to attribute data to a specific individual.

Your personal data may be shared internally within Tessella across international boundaries. In all cases, data transfers will conform to legal mechanisms appropriate for that country.

Your data will only be shared internally within Tessella and other parts of the Altran group.

How long do we keep your data?

Tessella has a record management retention policy that includes recruitment related personal information records.

*Duration from resolution date which is the point in time when an applicant is made an offer or rejected, or the applicant withdraws.

Data is deleted from active systems in accordance with this retention policy. When data is migrated from old systems, the legacy database is deleted. Data backups will not be subject to specific data retention policies. Backups will be overwritten as per our physical backup strategy.

Your Rights

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) you have the right to request access and rectify personal data we hold about you. If you submit an information request, we will take reasonable steps to verify your identity before sharing any data with you. You are entitled, at any time, to remove your consent allowing Tessella to hold the optional data you provided as part of the recruitment process.  To review, correct or withdraw consent, please contact us via email at
